„2 dead, 6 lost their legs, and over 400 injured is the fact that every one agree on and it’s out in the public.
police fired tear gas and holding bombs in their hands are pictures that are out in public also.
but the police blamed the people of using bombs and injuring themselves.
now there are commissions that have been set up to find the truth.
my observation, I was far away from the place, but i could still hear very loud noise like bombs.
i went in afterward and i could still feel the tear gas.
i went to visit those injured in the hospital, and saw wounds from bombs.
i heard from those injured that police fired tear gas toward the people without warning and it exploded next to them. (the tear gas is a kind of bombs that when shot directly to the people, it can injured people)
one said he was shot in his leg and saw the bullet.
for me, i have no doubt that the police injured the people. two police got injured also, but that was after they shot the people, so some of the people fought back.“

„i and my friends, about 30 of us, are acting as the „third side“ in the conflicts right now.
we were on tv and also videotaping our activities. i would like to show some of the thing that we do in a situation like this in your mediation workshop. like in the evening when their is no formal session. so people can see how we can apply nvc to real situation in our country. what do you think?
yesterday we went to every side and listen to them, and we found that every side wants peace. my friend said that on tv last night and i’m trying to get that tape, to use in my trainings. though it’s not formal nvc but the point is.
some people think that the conflict is too great to do something. we don’t think we can stop the conflicts, but what we have found is every side wants to speak and nobody listens. we just go to them, listen to them and see that they have common needs.
then we have access to the media and we try to communicate to the wider public through tv and newspaper. to help people see each other as human beings.
i realize that this is to act as the third party.
i’m using nvc with every side.“
Ariane
